The 50th annual Lewisboro Library Fair will be held rain or shine, on Saturday, September 25 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Onatru Farm. The Farm is also the site for the Book and Toy Pre-Sale, for Lewisboro residents only, on Thursday, September 23 from 5:30-9:00 pm. The Pre-Sale will be open to everyone on Friday, September 24 at 10:00 am. Children's books will be open until 2:00 pm, while Adult books will stay open until 4:30 pm. The Fair has something for everyone! The big draw is the Book Sale, but the Fair also features “Attic Treasures,” a silent auction, food, games, hayrides, music, and vintage cars. Back by popular demand this year is our amazing corn maze, created by the Lewisboro Garden Club. The maze is an homage to Lewisboro, decorated with vintage road signs and other memorabilia. A fun new activity this year is a Photo Booth with a 1960’s theme. The Fair’s Concours d’Elegance is a low-key but fun antique car show that features a wide variety of vehicles from show cars to weekend cruisers. There is no entrance fee, but space is limited. To register, contact Dean Travalino at 763-5393 or r5fuego@aol.com. Plaques will be awarded to winners in six categories courtesy of the sponsor, Arroway Chevrolet Cadillac. There is also a raffle held at the Fair each year. Raffle tickets were mailed out to homes in mid-August, and will also be available for sale at the library and at the Fair itself. Tickets are $10 each or $40 for a book of five tickets. First prize is an Apple iMac Desktop Computer, second prize is an Apple iPad, and third prize is dinner for two at Le Chateau Restaurant. Winners need not be present to collect their prize. Volunteers Needed - The Fair is our major fundraiser for the year. All proceeds go directly into our operating budget, which funds new materials and programs to benefit the entire community. We depend on the help of volunteers to run the Fair. We are currently seeking volunteers to help out before and on Fair Day. If you are available to move the books into place on September 18, or work at the Book Pre-Sale or Fair, please click on sign up the library.
Important Note: Reduced Library Hours Due to cutbacks from the town, the Lewisboro Library had to reduce its service hours and library materials budget, and cut part-time staff hours as of January, 2010. The Library is no longer open on Sunday and Monday. In addition, our book pickup service from our drop boxes in Vista and Goldens Bridge have been discontinued.
