 Using the Library from Home

Did you know that there are two ways you can reserve items, renew library materials, review fines, and check the status of items on hold, from your home?  You may use your telephone to access TeleCirc (Telephone Library services) which is the preferred method for renewals.  TeleCirc can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Dial 674-4169, enter your library card number and PIN* and select one of the service options.

You can also use your computer to access Library services via the Library Catalog.

 Search the Catalog/Place a Hold:

For Quick Search:

  1. Log into your account by entering your Library Card Number and PIN* in the top right-hand corner of the page.
  2. Enter search term in box.
  3. Choose type of search term from menu on right. (e.g. key word or phrase, title, author, etc.)
  4. If you wish to search only in Lewisboro Library, select it from menu below.  If you wish to search all libraries in the Westchester Library System, leave it at ALL.
  5. Click search.
  6. Click Details to find availability information about any item in the results list that you are interested in.
  7. For more information about that item, click on the Catalog Record tab near the top of the screen.
  8. If you wish to place a hold on that item, click on Place Hold.
  9. Choose Lewisboro Library from the "pickup at" menu. (Or choose another library if you wish.)
  10. Click Place Hold. A message should appear with your name confirming that your hold has been placed.

 For Advanced (Power) Search:

  1. Click on Advanced Search.
  2. Enter each search term in its own box.
  3. For each, choose the search term type from the menu on the left of the box.
  4. Use the menus on the right to choose Boolean operators (AND, OR, XOR, NOT) to place between search terms.
  5. Scroll down the page and select other options as you wish from the menus provided.
  6. Click Search.
  7. Continue with step 5 above in the Quick Search Instructions.

Renew Library Materials:

  1. Log into your account by entering your Library Card Number and PIN* in the top right-hand corner of the page.
  2. Select My Card and Renew Items
  3. Select Renew Materials
  4. Select List Charged Items
  5. Select items for renewal, and then select Renew Selected Items
  6. A message will appear indicating either a successful renewal, or a denied renewal if the item is on hold for another patron

 Check Hold Status/Edit Holds:

  1. Log into your account by entering your Library Card Number and PIN* in the top right-hand corner of the page.
  2. Select My Card and Renew Items
  3. Select Review My Account
  4. Select Display User Information
  5. From this screen you may review your holds, and cancel or edit them as necessary.  Please note it is a good idea to suspend your holds list when you are going away on vacation. This keeps your place in line, and prevents the item from being returned if you are not here to pick it up within the week. Due to the high volume of interlibrary loan items received, and limited space in which to hold them, patrons must check out all items being held for them on the hold shelf.  They may not take home a few items at a time.  Please keep this in mind when reserving multiple items.

          * Your default PIN is the last four digits of  your phone number,  or 0000 if no phone number is on your library account. You may enter your library card and PIN at the top of the catalog page to stay logged in if you are doing multiple searches.
